Gurten, Upper Austria

Belts is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Ried in the Innviertel with 1186 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Ried.

Geography

Belts is located at 400 m altitude in Innviertel. The expansion is 5.5 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 5.1 km. The total area is 16.3 km ². 22.7 % of the area is forested, 66.3 % of the area is used for agriculture. Quarters are Baumgarten, village, Edt, Freiling, belts, Itzenthal, Mittermoos, Oberdorf, Ranzing, Reiset, Schmalzberg, Schmiedhof, Schoppe Ring, Wagner mountain.

History

The place is as Latin ad Curtina ( when small courtyard ') mentioned in Passau Urbarium in the 12th century, and belonged to the diocese of Passau. Until 1779 the town was Bavarian and came to the Peace of Teschen with the Innviertel (then ' Innbaiern ') to Austria. During the Napoleonic Wars shortly Bavarian, it belongs since 1814 finally returned to Austria above the Enns. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the village belonged to the Upper Danube. After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.

  • Josef Penninger ( born September 5, 1964), geneticists and scientific director at IMBA (Institute of Molecular Biotechnology of the Austrian Academy of Sciences).
  • Josef Fill (born 16 July 1939 Afing, South Tyrol) is an Austrian entrepreneur and politician (ÖVP ) in retirement. He was from 2000 to 2004 the provincial government in the Upper Austrian government.

Economy

The largest employers in the belts Fill Gesellschaft mbH, an international special machine and plant construction company for various industrial sectors. The business covers the fields of metal, plastic and wood for the automotive, aerospace, wind energy, sports and construction industries, the operation is well known for innovative solutions and intensive research and development. The family business founded in 1966, employs more than 550 employees.

Population Development

In 1991 the municipality had 1,143 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 then 1233 inhabitants. 2009 was determined in a pre-count 1,206 inhabitants.
