Gustaf von Numers

Gustaf ( born 31 July 1912 in Kangasala, † May 21, 1978 in Helsinki) was a Finnish officer of Numers and a leading heralds the modern era.

From Numers studied in the 1930s heraldry. He was considered one of Finland's leading experts in this field. Supported by many colleagues, he contributed to the creation of parliamentary legislation on the municipal coat of arms in Finland in 1949. He created about 150 municipal coat of arms, as well as military banners and Family Crest. He was a founding member of the Finnish Society of Heraldry " emblem " and was its first chairman in the years 1957-1964. As a member of the International Council of heraldic nobility Academy ( Académie Internationale d' Héraldique ) since its inception in 1949 has developed from Numers is high praise.

Because of its high reputation, a 1982 international award established was named in memory of him after him. It bears the name Gustav von Numers price for heraldic art and design and is awarded to individuals in recognition of their achievements in heraldic art and design. The Herald Ottfried Neubecker received this award in 1982, the Herald Carl Alexander of Volborth ( 1919-2009 ) in 1984.

The playwright and writer Gustaf of Numers ( * 21 March 1848 the Maxmo; † February 6, 1913 in Kannus ) was a distant relative.
