Gustav Kampendonk

Gustav Kampendonk (* May 30, 1909 in Hoengen, † June 29, 1966 in Berlin) was a German screenwriter.

Life

Kampendonk studied in Munich, Berlin and Leipzig journalism and art history. In 1933 he was phil with the dissertation The history of the Krefeld newspaper business from its beginnings to 1814. A contribution to the press and cultural history of the Lower Rhine to the Dr.. doctorate. In the 1930s he wrote feature articles, in 1937, he worked first as a dramaturge for the UFA.

From 1939, he wrote screenplays, including for the first German color film Women Are Better Diplomats. Especially in the fifties was Kampendonk a prolific author, who also adapted some of his screenplays to novels. Mostly he invented the story to film comedies, hit movies or other entertainment films. Only in the concentration camp outbreak film Morituri (1948) and the comedy The Women of Mr S. (1951 ), he ventured into contemporary historical problems. With The Avengers, he wrote his only Edgar Wallace movie. Most recently, he wrote 13 episodes of the TV series Police radio calls (Primary Contributor: Josef Dahmen and Karl -Heinz Hess).
