Gustav Lindau
Gustav Lindau ( born 2 May 1866 in Dessau, † October 10, 1923 in Berlin) was a German mycologist and botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Lindau ".
Life and work
Gustav Lindau began his natural history studies in Heidelberg and later in Berlin, where he became a pupil of Simon Schwendenerstrasse ( 1829-1919 ). In 1888 he received his doctorate with a thesis on apothecia of lichens. In 1890 he became director of the botanical garden in Münster and assistant of Julius Oscar Brefeld ( 1839-1925 ).
Since 1892, he worked as an assistant in the botanical garden in Berlin. In 1894 he completed his habilitation and became a lecturer in philosophy. Finally, in 1902 he received the call to the professor.
Ehrentaxon
To him, the genus Lindauea Rendle of the plant family Acanthaceae the ( Acanthaceae ) was named in honor.
