Gustave Olombe Atelumbu Musilamu

Gustave Olombe Atelumbu Musilamu ( born May 1, 1927 in Yaounge, Democratic Republic of the Congo, † 17 February 2011) was a Congolese priest and Roman Catholic Bishop of Wamba.

Life

Gustave Olombe received on July 28, 1957 ordination.

On September 5, 1968, he was called by Pope Paul VI. appointed bishop of the diocese Wamna and received as such on September 2, 1969, the episcopal consecration by Archbishop Bruno Torpigliani. Co-consecrators were Albert Onyembo Lomandjo CSSp, Bishop of Kindu, and Guillaume van den Elzen OSA, Bishop of Doruma. He was the first native bishop of the Diocese of Wamba founded in 1959.

Bishop Olombe had to perform the difficult task of the Diocese of Wamba during the dictatorship of Mobutu, but also rebuild. His predecessor, Joseph -Pierre -Albert Wittebols SCI was murdered in 1964 along with numerous religious.

His resignation was accepted on 11 June 1990 by Pope John Paul II.
