Gutnius Lutheran Church

The Lutheran Church Gutnius ( Tok Pisin, English Good News, Good News German ) is a confessional Lutheran Church in Papua New Guinea with about 150,000 (as of 2010 ) members of the congregation.

History

The Lutheran Church Gutnius, formerly bore the name of Wabag Lutheran Church, was the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod founded in 1948.

Dissemination

Mainly, this church is found in the provinces of Enga and Western Highlands of the country. It works together with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea, however, have declared no churches and altar fellowship. Both churches cooperate in the training of pastors and contribute together with the Anglican church in the country, the Balob Teachers College in Lae.

External Church Relations

Full churches and altar fellowship maintains the church of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. She is a member of the International Lutheran Council and the Lutheran World Federation. Locally she liaises with the more liberal Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea.
