Guus Kuijer

Guus Kuijer ( born August 1, 1942 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch writer.

Life

After he had to repeat a class three times in elementary school, Guus Kuijer came to a boarding school in Zutphen. Following this, he completed a teacher training in Doetinchem. From 1967 to 1973 Kuijer taught at an elementary school. Even as a teacher, he began to write and published a novel and two short stories, all three were aimed at adults. Since 1975 he has aimed primarily to the children and has since presented more than 30 children 's books.

Kuijer is one of the most distinguished and most honored writers of the Netherlands. Very successful is among other things the previous five -volume series about the eleven-year in the first volume Polleke, the resulting resulting 2003 film Polleke was honored with several international awards.

In Germany Kuijer in 1982 and 2002 awards, including the German Youth Literature Prize. With The Book of all things, also nominated for the 2007 German Youth Literature Prize, he was awarded the Gustav Heinemann Peace Prize for Children's and young people's books.

Guus Kuijer is married and lives on a farm.
