Hà Tây Province

Hà Tây was a province in northern Vietnam. Since 1 August 2008, the entire province was incorporated into the capital Hanoi.

Geography

Hà Tây was one of the 64 provinces of Việt Nam is to the north west of Ha Noi in the Red River Delta and borders the provinces of Hưng Yên, Hà Nam, Hòa Bình and Phú Thọ. The Red River with the widely -scale rice and vegetable fields, dikes and bridges as well as the typical for the region, rugged limestone mountains dominate the landscape. The province is 2192.1 km ². The highest mountain ( 1296m ) Hà Tây province lies near Ba Vì.

In Hà Tây lived about 2.5 million people, of which 99% belong to the Kinh (or Viet, the largest population group in Việt Nam ) and 1% of the Muong. The provincial capital was called Dong Ha.

Administrative subdivision

The Hà Tây province consisted of two cities ( Hà Tây Sơn Đồng and ) and twelve districts.
