Habasit Holding

The Habasit Holding AG headquartered in Reinach is an internationally active Swiss manufacturer of power transmission and conveyor belts. Composed of more than 30 subsidiaries Group has 16 production plants and branches in over 70 countries. The Group employs over 3,300 people and generated 2012 revenue of 608.4 million Swiss francs.

History

The company was founded in 1946 in Basel by Fernand Habegger and his future wife, Alice Fluck and entered 1953 in the spindle and machine tapes market. 1959, the company moved that occurred as Habasit AG from 1961, from Basel to Reinach. With the establishment of the first foreign subsidiary in the UK Habasit started in 1965 with its international expansion. Other subsidiaries followed in 1967 in Canada, Spain, Austria, Sweden and the USA, in 1968 in Japan, 1972 in Brazil, 1974 in Germany, in Italy in 1976, in France in 1979 and 1981 in Norway.

In 1983, the sale of Armid drive belt, the first adhesive- free endverbindbaren flat belt with tensile layer Armid began on the market.

1985 was one of the group of companies 738 employees and generated a turnover of 130 million Swiss francs. The following year another subsidiaries were incorporated in Belgium and the Netherlands. Died in 1992, the company founder Fernand Habegger.
