Hacı Arif Bey

Haci Arif Bey (* 1831 in Istanbul, † 1885 ibid ) was one of the most important composers of the 19th century Ottoman.

Haci Arif Bey is the founder classical period of Turkish art music. He composed about a thousand songs and some religious works. It still preserves about 200 songs and seven of the religious pieces. From 1873 he also published under the title " Mecmuai Arif " a 600-page collection of poems.

His life was made ​​into a film in 1982 by Yucel Cakmakli in a Turkish series for television.
