Hačava

Hacava ( until 1927 slovak also " Vieska "; Wagnerhau German, Hungarian Ájfalucska - to 1902 Falucska ) is a town in eastern Slovakia with 224 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011). It is located in Okres Košice - okolie kraj part of Košice.

Geography

The community Hacava located in the north of the mountain range Slovak Karst ( Slovenský kras ), surrounded by the national park, 31 kilometers west of Košice.

From the connecting road between Košice and R2 Rožňava branches off the only access road over the neighboring village Haj and through a narrow valley to Hacava at Turňa Bodvou. In winter, this road can quickly become impassable. The townscape is dominated by wooden houses. Some inhabitants of Košice have here Cottages, called Chata.

Neighboring communities of Hacava are Medzev in the northeast, Turňa Bodvou the southeast, Haj in the south, the west and Borka Štós in the northwest.

History

The place is first mentioned in records in 1409 and was founded by German settlers under a "Master Wagner ". Through the Turkish wars and the Polish -Lithuanian War, the residents were forced to leave the place again. Only in the 17th century, it was repopulated by Ruthenians. From 1918 to 1927 he was also officially Vieska.

Until 1918 the village belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. By the First Vienna Award she came from 1938 to 1945 for a short time again to Hungary (under the name Ájfalucska ).
