Hackås

Hackås is a Örtschaft ( tätort ) in Berg municipality in southern Jämtland. The place is located about 30 km south of Östersund between the foothills of the large lake and the lake Näkten and is an old railway junction of the Inland Railway.

The name is first occupied in 1391 as Hakaas and consists of haka for outstanding outing and ås for ridge together. So that 's probably the area around the two villages Hov and Fäste meant north of the church, where the north and east a deep valley separates this area.

Hackås lies at the transition between two parts of the Storsjös 0150 Sannsundet the north and the Södra Storsjöflaket in the south. On the beach is Hackås ångbåtsbrygga, a steam ship bridge with steamboat traffic. In addition, there is a 3 km long ferry route between the village and Funäs.
