Hacktivism

Hacktivism ( portmanteau of hack and activism, Eng. Hacktivism ), is the use of computers and computer networks as a means of protest to achieve political goals. The first use of the concept learned in July 2004 by members of hacker collective called Omega.

Differences

Some people who describe themselves as hacktivists who use attacks on websites for political purposes, for example the so-called defacen of websites of political opponents or groups. Depending on how the term is used under hacktivism also civil disobedience or a general rejection of the system can be understood.

Types of hacktivism
