Hady Pfeiffer

Hadwig " Hadi " Piper Lantschner ( born September 22, 1906 in Innsbruck, † December 10, 2002 ibid; born Hadwig Lantschner ) was an Austrian- German alpine skier. It was 1935 Vice World Champion in downhill.

Life

Hadwig Lantschner belonged, as well as her siblings Inge, Otto, Gustav and Gerhard for successful Lantschner - ski family. After graduation she completed her training as a nurse, only then she began intensively with the skiing. Soon she was a good all-rounder and celebrated in 1931 in Downhill and combination of St. Anton their first victories.

At the World Cup 1932 in Cortina d' Ampezzo Lantschner won the bronze medal in the downhill and in combination, each behind her sister Inge. In slalom, she just missed the podium and finished fourth. A few weeks later she won at the Arlberg - Kandahar race in St. Anton in the downhill, slalom, and in combination. 1933 Lantschner won all three competitions in Garmisch. The World Cup in her hometown of Innsbruck was disappointing. On the descent it reached only the sixth in the slalom she fell out already in the first round and awarded with it the chance of a medal combination. The next winter was their best results of the second place in the downhill and the third place in the combination of SDS- race in Grindelwald. At the World Championship 1934 as she could, like all other Austrians, because of the political events to attend.

Following her marriage to a German sports teacher Piper Lantschner started from the 1935 season for the German Ski Association and was in the World Cup 1935 in Mürren Vice World Champion in downhill Christl Cranz behind. In slalom, she went to eighth, and in combination they finished fifth. The following year, she reached the fifth place at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch -Partenkirchen in the inaugural Alpine event.

After the winter of 1936 Piper Lantschner ended her active career, and retired into private life.
