Haemaccel
Polygeline is a polymer of urea and hydrolyzed gelatin having an average molecular weight of 35,000 ( 5,000 to 50,000 ) daltons.
Polygeline is excreted by the kidneys and has a plasma half-life of three to six hours. It is increased in patients with renal impairment up to 16 hours. Adverse drug effects, mainly due to histamine release ( hypotension, bronchospasm and skin investments such as urticaria ) have been observed in 0.78 % of cases.
Application
Applies polygeline in 3.5 % concentration as colloidal plasma substitutes ( Haemaccel ® or Emagel ®), but not for a preoperative acute normovoläme hemodilution ( ANH ) is suitable.
In addition, or was it in different vaccines as a stabilizer present. Currently included polygeline is eg in Rabipur ®, Rabivac ® ( vaccines against rabies) and BCG Medac ( a BCG live vaccine against tuberculosis).
