Haemal arch

Hämalbögen, also called Hämalrippen or Hämapophysen are ventral ( ventral oriented ) ridges of the tail spine. Fish have fins on all vertebrae. Front form two ribs a bow at the back follow the Hämalbögen. They are melted and form a Y-shape of the spinal column to Hämalkanal, by leading a large blood vessel. The extension of the merging point of the two arcs is called Hämaldorn. Land vertebrates ( Tetrapoda ) have no Hämalbögen, or they are present only on the anterior caudal vertebrae.
