Häfelfingen (Basel German: Häfelfinge ) is a municipality in the district Sissach the canton of Basel -Country in Switzerland.

Geography

Mountain village on the northwestern slope of the Jura belonging Wisenbergs, whose summit with a height of 1002 m above sea level the highest point of the municipality is. Through the village flows the Eimattbach, a Zuflüsschen of Homburg Erbach, which leads in turn to the Ergolz.

The municipality is bordered to the north by Häfelfingen Rümlingen, on the northeast by Rünenberg, to the east by Zeglingen, to the south by Wisen (SO), on the southwest by Läufelfingen and to the west by Buckten.

Coat of arms

The village coat of arms was created in 1946 in volksetymologischer based on the village name ( port "pot "). It shows in a golden field under black horizontal stripes, a black three-legged pot. The colors yellow and black are derived from the rule and the Office of Homburg.

History

Was first mentioned in 1358 as Häfelfingen Hevelingen and points to an early medieval settlement clan. The village was originally part of the Earl of Frohnburg and was later part of the reign of Homburg. 1305 acquired the bishop and 1400, the city of Basel this rule and with it the village. In 1798, came to the district Häfelfingen Gelterkinden and in 1814 District Sissach.

Traffic

The village is connected by secondary roads with Rümlingen, Buckten and Läufelfingen and their stations on the old Hauenstein line. During school hours, a bus of Basel Land transport runs between Häfelfingen and Rümlingen.
