HAG

The HAG model railways GmbH, independent successor company of HAG model railways AG, is a Swiss model railway manufacturer based in Stansstad.

History

The company was founded in 1944 by Hugo and Alwin Gahler in St.Gallen, the name of the name " HAG " originated as an abbreviation. The family business was conducted in 1979 by Werner Gahler, the son of Alwin Gahler in 2nd generation. 1982 the company moved after Mörschwil. As of 1 January 2012, the company was sold to the company Hag Tekwiss Engineering from Hagedorn. The spare parts for the vehicles of the older generation were simultaneously sold to the amiba engine shed, where they are still available. Werner Gahler operated until the end of 2012 ( closing ) or part-time still for the HAG model trains by taking care of the former factory shop in Mörschwil.

In late October 2012, the production site in Mörschwil was abandoned with the move to Stansstad. The new location of the new company since the beginning of November 2012, under the direction of Heinz Urech.

Changes in the workforce

As part of cost-cutting measures eight employees the company had to lay off after this respect the natural fluctuation was no longer sufficient in January 2009. The number of employees at that time was reduced to 23 at the time of acquisition by the company Tekwiss engineering employed in HAG Mörschwil January 1, 2012 nor 12 employees. By giving up the production site in Mörschwil had to be canceled the remaining nine employees.

Development of the production program

HAG started with the manufacturing of model trains in the nominal size 0 for 0 gauge However, once at the beginning of the 1950s, H0 always continued to decline, the demand for the track 0 by the competition of the track, put HAG from 1954 also to the nominal size of H0 and stopped production of the track 0-1957 completely.

A single model, an Ae 4/7 was produced in the nominal size N for the N scale.

Current production program

Currently offered is a range of locomotives, multiple units, passenger and freight cars for the H0, almost exclusively by Swiss models. The models are available for both the two wire track system as well as for the three rail track system.
