Hagar Schon Aaronson Shrieve

Hagar Already Aaronson Shrieve ( common short form: HSAS ) was a supergroup consisting of singer Sammy Hagar, guitarist Neal Schon, bassist Kenny Aaronson and drummer Michael Shrieve. The group released an album titled Through the Fire, whose songs were all recorded during two concerts in San Francisco, and which contained a cover version of Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale hits.

Foundation

After their album Journey had published in the spring of 1983, Frontiers, guitarist Neal decided early to start a project with Sammy Hagar. Hagar had his album Three Lock Box released in late 1982 and was subsequently traveled for a three-month safari holidays to Africa.

Even Hagar and began to look for other musicians to form a band. In an interview he gave in mid-1983, said this already: Sammy and I get along very well with each other. We already collaborate on a record, and that is a real killer! At the moment we have David Carmassi, who has played drums for Sammy, and we are still looking for a bass player. We have worked a bit with Tom Petersson, but I think he has other commitments. "

Already went from February to September 1983, Journey to the Frontiers tour and then began working with Hagar again. At this time Carmassi had already dropped out of the project. Thereupon Michael Shrieve, who had played in the early 1970s already with Neal Schon in the Carlos Santana band, the position behind the drums offered as a bassist Kenny Aaronson was won, who had played among others in the group " Foghat ".

Through the Fire

To record the album, the group played from 9 to November 21, 1983 several concerts for the radio network Westwood One. Two of these concerts, namely on 14 and 15 November in San Jose / California, were picked up by MTV and transmitted. These pictures were sent at least once, but not yet published. The recordings used for the album from San Francisco were then processed in the studio, the crowd noise was removed. The album was completed in December 1983 and published in 1984; it reached # 42 on the Billboard 200

The only single from the album released in 1984 was the cover version of A Whiter Shade of Pale, the number 94 on the Billboard Hot 100 reached.

HSAS only recorded this one album before already returned to Journey and Hagar his album VOA recorded, after which he was engaged as a singer of Van Halen and there who replaced David Lee Roth. Hagar and already worked almost 20 years later together with the short-lived Planet Us project.

Through the Fire was released again in 2004.
