Hagbarth Schjøtt, Sr.

Hagbarth Schjøtt ( born May 9, 1894 in Bergen, † 9 September 1994 ) was a Norwegian businessman.

Life

A native of Bergen Hagbarth Schjøtt, scion of a business family, son of the director of the work HE Schjøtt & Co, August Schjøtt and his Wife Børrea Elisabeth Pedersen was born, received his education in England and in the United States. After he had been employed in the subsequent period in the family business, he founded his own company in 1926 in Bryggen, namely, trading under the name Hagbarth Schjøtt A / S textile factory specializing in the manufacture of ready-made clothing. The continuously expanding company in which his younger brother Olvar Schjøtt was employed as a manager, employed in its peak 600 people, in 1993 it was forced to declare bankruptcy.

Hagbarth Schjøtt belonged moreover to the Executive Board of Norges Industriforbund. Schjøtt was married to Borghild born Johannesen. From this marriage five children, including the resistance fighters came from during the time of the German occupation of Norway and later businessman Hagbarth Schjøtt junior. After Hagbarth Schjøtt in May 1994 celebrated his 100th birthday, he died in September of the same year in his hometown of Bergen.
