The manned torpedo shark was a single prototype of the German Navy at the end of World War II and was the small combat units of the Navy belonging.

History of development

The shark was an evolution of martens and was designed by Dr. Cornelius in the spring of 1945 as a " one-way device." Basically the shark was no redevelopment, but an overly long Marder, which consisted of a front and a rear part with two intermediate torpedo means parts. Under the torpedo hull a hanging G7 was attached. Due to technical advancements doubling the battery capacity has been achieved in comparison to its predecessor. This allowed the shark a slightly higher speed and longer reach. Additionally, possessed the shark has an extra - deep rudder for briefly diving, the search appliance hare. After completion of a prototype of this was subjected to extensive testing in 1945 to 8 May. Up to the unconditional surrender of the Wehrmacht, however, it was agreed that the shark was not very seaworthy and thereby maneuver also poor due to its excessive length. There was no more mass production. The prototype was destroyed during the war, so as not to let it fall into enemy hands.
