Geographical Location

Haibach is 449 meters high in the region Danube - forest in a valley and is surrounded to the east by Lanzlberg, Winterberg and summer mountain in the south of Hofberg rises with the ruin Haibach. The town is crossed by Schreinerbächlein.

History

Haibach, first mentioned in 1106, takes its name from the knights of the Haybecken, later Haibeck. These were ministeriales the Counts of Bogen. In the memorial book of the monastery in 1100 Oberalteich a Wirnto of Haybach is mentioned, 1320 Dietrich Haibeck is called with the abbot of Oberalteich the cathedral building at Regensburg in a document.

1494 went out with the knight's the Haybecken to Haybach and Wiesenfelden. They were succeeded by the 1515 Notthaft, later the Ossinger and Leoprechtinger. The village was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark whose seat was Haibach. Culture and sights

Personalities

Gerda Hasselfeldt grew up in Haibach in Lower Bavaria on a farm her father Alois Rainer senior with butcher shop and inn. She was Federal Minister and Vice President of the German Bundestag. Already her father Alois Rainer sen. was represented in the Bundestag. Her younger brother, Alois Georg Josef Rainer, longtime mayor of Haibach, was elected in the general election in 2013 with a majority as a direct candidate for the electoral district of Straubing- rain in the German Bundestag. It is the successor of Ernst Hinsken also Haibacher.
