Haigern

The Haigern is a 285 meter high mountain between Talheim and mite in the district of Heilbronn in the north of Baden -Württemberg. It lies on Talheimer district northwest of the village. On the mountain is the same living space Haigern.

History

During the Nine Years War, the end of May the Haigern served until the beginning of June 1693 the commander of the imperial troops, Margrave Ludwig Wilhelm von Baden -Baden ( Türkenlouis ), as his headquarters at the repulse of the experiments west of Heilbronn aufmarschierter French troops cross over to the eastern bank of the Neckar.

The development of the mountain goes back to the Lords of Gemmingen. Philipp von Gemmingen acquired there from 1786 onwards larger estates, including 34 acres of the community Talheim. He had a castle-like building ( Stone House ) built there in the late 18th century with numerous outbuildings. The building shell was completed in 1791, in that year the topping out ceremony was celebrated. The client, however, died in 1800 before the completion of the estate. With the whole estate included the shell in 1813 was sold to demolition. The buyer Jakob long years had ablate the building. After a major fire in mite on April 14, 1815 Long years turned the stones to rebuild the destroyed ten houses available.

Later came on the Haigern an agricultural property, which developed until the late 19th century to a popular destination with restaurant. Under an agreement dated 26 August 1924, the Youth Welfare Office Heilbronn -Land acquired the property and set it in the following year a children's convalescent home for first 15 children. 1927, an extension was built, thereby increasing the capacity of the convalescent home to 45 children. The farm on the estate remained to supply the rest-house. In 1938, the city of Heilbronn acquired the plant, but later sold it back to private. The property was heavily damaged at the end of World War II artillery fire, but subsequently repaired. Since the 1950s, a Catholic children's recreation center was built for 600 children a year and a church community center, on a slope after Talheim is also a winery.

Every year at Trollinger Marathon is the Haigern, the highest point of the half-marathon and marathon distances, crossed by thousands of participants.

Nationwide awareness now enjoys also by the friends of the children's leisure Haigern eV free hosted annually Haigern Live! Open Air, which now took place in the fifth year and finally was allowed to receive almost 20,000 visitors over four days.

From the exposed altitude one has an impressive view over the southern basin Heilbronner and the westerly ridge of Heuchelberg and the Strombergs. To the south the view extends to the Stuttgart television tower.
