Haim Landau

Chaim Landau (Hebrew חיים לנדאו; born September 10, 1916 in Krakow, † 16 October 1981) is a former Israeli politician and a former minister.

Policy

From 1984 until 1996, he was from the 1st to the 8th term of the Knesset. From 1949-1965 he was the Herut member of the Knesset, from 1965-1974 he was a Member of the Knesset the Gahal, from 1974-1977 he was a member of the Knesset of the Likud, from 1969-1970 he was the Israeli Minister of Transport. From 1978-1979 he was Minister without Portfolio and 1979-1981 he was Minister of Transport.

Life

He emigrated to Palestine in 1935 a. He was a member of Betar and the Irgun while he continued his studies as a design engineer at the Technion.

In 1940 he was commander of the Betar - branch in Haifa, in early 1944 he was sent to Tel Aviv and was appointed a member of the General Headquarters at the end of the same year. In 1947, he took along with Menachem Begin and Shmuel Katz at a meeting of the UNSCOP the Irgun.
