Haircut One Hundred

Haircut 100 was a British New Wave band. It was founded in 1980 by Nick Heyward Beckenham (vocals), Les Nemes (bass) and Graham Jones ( guitar). Later still joined Phil Smith (saxophone ), Mark Fox ( percussion) and Memphis Blair Cunningham (drums) of the band.

Initially called the origin Trio "Captain Pennyworth " and then " Boat People ".

Just one year after the founding of Haircut 100 got a record deal. Produced by Bob Sargeant ( which, inter alia, Breathe and The Beat produced ), was released in October 1981 her first single Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl ), which reached the top ten of the UK Singles Chart at first. Under the title Pelican West was released in early 1982, the band's debut album, out of the three top ten singles were released.

At the height of their success, left band founder Nick Heyward Haircut 100 in order to build a solo career. Mark Fox replaced him as a singer. In the summer of 1983 the second album Paint and Paint appeared. On the success of their debut album, however, Haircut 100 could not go. Finally, the band broke up in 1984.

Blair Cunningham later landed at the Pretenders, where he replaced the unfortunate Martin Chambers.
