Haitham al-Maleh

Haitham Maleh (Arabic al - Haytham هيثم المالح Malih, born 1931 ) is a Syrian democracy activist, lawyer and former judge.

He has long been a critic of the current Syrian Baath government of President Bashar al -Assad and has been arrested since the 1960s as a dissident by the authorities due to various events.

Maleh was a signatory of the Damascus Declaration and was in the course of the Syrian civil war from 2011 leading member of the opposition Syrian National Council, and later from 2012 at the National Coalition for Revolutionary and opposition forces.
