Hajany (Brno-Country District)

Hajany ( German Hajan ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located ten kilometers southwest of the center of Brno and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Hajany is located on the right side of the Valley of Bobrava in the Thaya - Schwarza valley floor. To the north of the Nebovid ( 369 m) and the Goat hora rise ( 355 m), in the south the Hájiska (281 m) and northwest of the Písoňky ( 341 m).

Neighboring towns are Nebovidy and Moravany in the north, Modřice in the northeast, and Želešice Popovice in the east, and Rajhrad Holasice the southeast, Syrovice in the south, Mělčany the southwest, Tikovice, Ořechov and Ořechovičky in the west and Střelice in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of most of the Prämonstratenserinnenkloster Rosa Coeli associated village was in 1323, when the Dowager Queen Elisabeth the place eintauschte together with the patronage of the Brno Mother of God Church at the monastery to the town Pravlov to establish a monastery in Old Brno. Another portion had the Leobschützer pastor Vitoslav. Under the condition of his burial in the monastery church of the pastor left in 1339 the Cistercian convent Aula Sanctae Mariae also has its share. 1714 sold the Old Brno monastery, Good Hajany together with a part of Syrovice to Johann Kaschnitz of vineyard. From this acquired 1717 Eustace Joseph Gerstmann Gerst field the Good Hajan. In the years from 1723 to 1724 originated in Hajany twelve new Chaluppen. The oldest town seal dates from 1733 and bears the inscription Obec Hagani 1733. Until 1749 there was a vineyard, which was then transformed into farmland. Other owners were from 1746 Henry Hajek of forest sites and from 1790 Matthias of Smetana. At this time lived 110 people in the 19 houses of the village. Around 1795, the Lords of Smetana build a small castle at the manor. The estate also included a distillery and a vinegar factory. After the Knights of Smetana follow in the 19th century the Counts Mitrovský Mitrovice and Nemyšl. Gepfarrt was the village to Great Urhau. 1834 was the site of 36 houses and 239 inhabitants had.

After the abolition of patrimonial Hajany formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Brno team. In the second half of the 19th century Heinrich Wankel discovered a prehistoric burial site at Hajany. 1869 lived 307 people in 36 houses of Hajany. In 1877 the castle became by marriage to the family Harnoncourt - Unverzagt. 1890, the village had grown to 43 houses and 288 inhabitants had, including 24 German -speaking. The entire population was Catholic. At the beginning of the 20th century, the family of Deym Střítež bought the castle. In 1921, the municipality was assigned to the Okres Brno- venkov. In the 1940s took place east of the village construction of the autobahn Breslau - Vienna, which were set in 1943. On April 24, 1945, the tank battle of Great Urhau took place in the area. Between 1948 and 1960 the congregation to Okres Brno- okolí belonged. After its cancellation Hajany came back to Okres Brno- venkov.

  • Grave lay the Count Deym, the neoclassical building was built in the 1880s in the grove on the southwestern outskirts of the village under Hubert Karl Sigmund Franz Josef Harnoncourt - Unverzagt and Josephine Julie Mitrovský of Nemyšl as a burial place of the family Harnoncourt - Unverzagt. The last burial in 1935.
