Hal Daub

Harold John " Hal " Daub, Jr. ( born April 23, 1941 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina ) is an American politician ( Republican). Between 1981 and 1989 he represented the second electoral district of the state of Nebraska in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Hal Daub visited until 1959 the Benson High School in Omaha. Then he studied until 1963 at Washington University in St. Louis ( Missouri). He finished his education in 1966 with a law degree from the University of Nebraska. Between 1966 and 1968 he served in the U.S. Army from his military service.

In the years 1970 and 1980, Daub was a delegate to the party days of the Republicans in Nebraska. In 1980, he was elected in the second district of Nebraska in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he became the successor of John Joseph Cavanaugh on January 3, 1981. After he was confirmed in the following midterm elections in each of its mandate, Daub was able to complete a total of four legislative sessions in Congress until January 3, 1989.

In 1988, Daub opted not to run again for the U.S. House of Representatives. Instead, he ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate. In 1990, another failed attempt to be elected to the Senate. After that Hal Daub between 1995 and 2001 Mayor of Omaha. In 2009 he applied unsuccessfully for a return to this office. He currently works as an attorney in private practice.
