Hal Galper

Harold " Hal " Galper ( born April 18, 1938 in Salem) is an American jazz pianist. He first studied classical piano from 1945 to 1948, but switched to jazz, which he studied from 1955 to 1958 at the Berklee College of Music. During this time he also received Jaki Byard of Herb Pomeroy and private lessons. He played in Pomeroy's band, and later with Chet Baker and Stan Getz. He also accompanied the vocalists Joe Williams, Anita O'Day, and Chris Connor. Hal Galper was temporarily in the Cannonball Adderley Quintet (succeeding George Duke ) played from 1975 with Lee Konitz and was involved as a pianist Tony Williams album Now Hear This, at the Cecil McBee, bass, and Terumasa Hino, flugelhorn and Trumpet, participated.
