Haldarsvík

Haldarsvík [ ˌ haldaɻʂ vʊik ] or Haldórsvík [ ˌ haldœɻʂ vʊik ] " Halldor's Bay " ( Danish name Haldersvig ), also briefly Vik, is a place of the Faroe Islands on the island of Streymoy.

To commune Haldarsvík includes the villages of Tjornuvik and Langasandur. Together, the municipality had exactly 271 inhabitants on 31 December 2002.

Haldarsvík located in the north on the east coast Streymos along the road to Tjornuvik. Through the center runs a whitewater river.

The stone church was consecrated in 1856 by Haldarvíks VU Hammershaimb. It is the only church of the Faroe Islands in the form of an octagon. Also, the altar is special: Instead of showing in the representation of the Last Supper, the twelve apostles, whose faces were replaced by the faces of existing Faroese.
