Halina Birenbaum

Halina Birenbaum ( born September 15, 1929 in Warsaw) is a Polish- Israeli writer and translator.

The occupation they had in the Warsaw ghetto and spend later in the concentration camps Majdanek, Auschwitz -Birkenau and Ravensbrück. In Neustadt- Glewe she was released on 2 May 1945 by the Red Army. Her mother was murdered in Majdanek, her father in the Treblinka extermination camp.

Birenbaum 1947 emigrated to Israel. Until the marriage in 1950, she worked on a kibbutz. During the numerous lectures and meetings with Israeli youth she conveys her knowledge of the Holocaust.

The life and death during the occupation, the martyrdom of the Polish Jews in the ghettos and in the concentration camps are the main themes of the prose and poetry by Halina Birenbaum.

Birenbaum is married and has two sons.
