Halothamnus iranicus is a plant of the genus Halothamnus from the family of Amaranthaceae ( Amaranthaceae ).
Features
Halothamnus iranicus is a 45 cm high and 100 cm wide shrub with blue- green branches that smells unpleasant rancid butter. The leaves are linear to triangular- ovate and up to 11 mm long. The flowers are 2-5 mm in distance on the branches and are longer than its bract and bracteoles with their 3.2 to 4.2 mm, and their tepals are narrow - ovate. The scars are pointed at the tip. The winged fruit reached 7-11 mm in diameter, their wings set to 1 /3 of the fruit height. The Fruchttubus is almost cylindrical at the base, with a narrow sharp-edged Wall and small egg-shaped pits.

Occurrence
Halothamnus iranicus is endemic in southern Iran and in the southwestern Pakistan ( Baluchistan ). It grows in frost-free semi-deserts to rocky, stony, partly salt- rich sites of 0-930 m above sea level.
