Halve Maen
The Halve Maen ( Half Moon to German ) was a 1608 for the Kamer Amsterdam in Amsterdam built, then classified as a scramble three-masted sailing ship of the Dutch United East Indian Company with a capacity of about 30 loads. She led a lateen sail to fore and mainmast per 2 square sails and the mizzen mast. The ship was armed with 4 smaller cannons that were placed in the intermediate deck between the main mast and back. The rudder was out of the slightly inflated Quarter deck. The crew was probably around 20 man. For more ship data are not known.
On behalf of the East India Companie she stabbed on 6 April 1609 by the Netherlands under the command of the Englishman Henry Hudson to explore the north-west passage to the Pacific Ocean in the lake.
