The Hamiltonstövare is recognized by the FCI Swedish breed of dog ( Gr. 6, sec 1.2, standard number 132).
Origin and History
The hunter and dog breeder Adolf Patrick Hamilton created him, by crossing Holstein pad with the Hanover Haidbracke. Then there were the Kurländer Bracke and the Foxhound. It was first issued in 1886.
Description
Clearly the origin of the dogs can be seen; the three colored brackish type is up to 60 cm tall. The hair is harsh, short and very close to the body. The ears are set rather high. In length they range, forward held, not quite up to half of the snout
Use
The Hamiltonstövare place as a hunting and companion dog use.
