Han Kulker

Han Kulker (actually: Johannes Nicolaas Maria Kulker; born August 15, 1959 in Leidschendam ) is a former Dutch middle and middle-distance runner, who had his greatest successes in the 1500 -meter distance.

Career

In 1986, he surprisingly won the bronze medal behind the Spaniards José Luis González and José Luis Carreira at the Indoor Athletics Championships in Madrid. At the European Championships in Stuttgart, a slow race developed over 1500 meters with a decision in the final sprint. With Steve Cram and Sebastian Coe won two Brits behind Kulker won bronze in 3:42,11 minutes ago José Luis González.

In the indoor season in 1987 Kulker could continue his medal winnings. At the European Indoor Championships in Liévin he won in a track before separating the two Germans Jens- Peter Herold (East) and Klaus -Peter Nabein (West). Shortly thereafter, he won at the World Indoor Championships in Indianapolis in 3:39,51 min bronze behind the Irishman Marcus O'Sullivan and Spaniard José Manuel Abascal. At the World Championships in Rome he made the semi-finals in 3:36,08 min his personal best; in the final he reached in 3:42,08 min ninth place. Also in 1988 he reached the final of the season's highlight: At the Olympic Games in Seoul, he finished in sixth place 3:37,08 min.

On 12 February 1989, Kulker 3:38,37 min with a Dutch indoor record on, which was broken by Gert -Jan Liefers until 2004. At the European Indoor Championships in The Hague a week later he lost a lane separating the Frenchman Hervé PHELIPPEAU and received the silver medal. While he barely started in the outdoor season in 1989, reached Kulker at the European Championships 1990 in Split again the finals and finished second in 3:39,85 min seventh. His last international Endkampfplatzierung he reached at the World Indoor Championships in 1991 in Seville, where he finished fifth.

Outdoors in 1985 he was about 800 m and 1986 and 1987 on 1500 m Dutch master. In the hall, he won the national title four times more than 1500 m (1985, 1987, 1989, 1991) and twice each over 800 m (1985, 1986) and 3000 m (1988, 1990).
