Han Su-san

Han Su- san ( born November 13, 1946) is a South Korean author.

Life

Han Su- san was born on November 13, 1946 in Inje, Gangwon -do. He studied English literature at Kyunghee University in Seoul. Since 1997 he is Professor of Korean Language and Literature at the Sejong University.

In 1981 he was arrested because the government censorship interpreted some of his lines from the serial novel ( The Streets of desire ) in the JoongAng Ilbo daily newspaper as a mockery of President Chun Doo -hwan. He and his colleagues were imprisoned and tortured for several days. Traumatized by this event was Han Su- san in 1988, after Japan and returned only in 1992 returned to South Korea. The writing helped him to process the past.

Han Su- san began to publish in the 1970s, and his writing style helped him soon afterwards to success. In details respecting, he weaves his poetic writing style in thought-provoking novels, many of which deal with the importance of life. His work ravens ( 까마귀 ), which consists of five volumes, Han Su- san called his life's work. It is about the lives of Korean men who were brought to Japan during the Japanese colonial period to forced labor.
