The hangar stone is a 418.5 m above sea level. NN high hilltop in the communities Ahnatal and Calden in the district of Kassel, North Hesse ( Germany ).

Geography

Geographical location

The hangar stone rises in the northeast part of the nature park Hawk Forest west of Weimar Ahnataler district and south of the district Caldener Fürstenwald. While the area to the southwest via the Help stones over forwards ( 509.8 m above sea level. NN ) for 2.3 kilometers southwest situated High Dörnberg ( 578.7 m above sea level. NN ), it falls to the north in the through by the fog Beeke Uffelner West Valley and to the east including through the valley of the village Bach in that of the ancestor from.

Waters and watershed

The hangar is stone, as well as the High Dörnberg, on the watershed between Fulda and Diemel, a part of the Diemel-Eder/Fulda/Weser-Wasserscheide. During the eastward flowing Dorfbach (also called Servitutgraben; 4.8 km long) drained by the ancestor in the Fulda, coming from the High Dörnberg and slightly west of the hangar stone flows to the West Uffelner sink aspiring fog Beeke ( 10.8 km ) approximately to the north- west over the heat in the Diemel. Finally, Fulda and Diemel open into the Weser. Below the hangar stone extends in a former basalt quarry of small Hangarsteinsee (popularly called the slope ).

The hangar stone belongs to the physiographic feature unit group West Hessian mountain country and sinks ( number 34) or in the main unit hawk forests Bergland ( 342) for natural space Dörnberg and terror mountains ( 342.3 ).

Transport links

The hangar stone can only be reached on forest trails, for example, those that branch off from the county road 30 in Weimar and Prince forest. Through the valleys east, north and west of the mountain leads with stops in both villages also operated by the RegioTram Kassel railway Volkmarsen - Vellmar - Obervellmar.
