Hanging parrot

Blue crown ( Loriculus galgulus )

The Hanging Parrots ( Loriculus ) are a genus of small, delicate parrots who live from India and Sri Lanka to New Guinea. The birds reach a total length of 12 to 13 centimeters. Their plumage is mostly bright green. They are thus, with the exception of the woodpecker parrots ( Micropsitta ), the smallest parrots. Different head colorations distinguish the species.

Its common name they have from their habit of hanging upside down to sleep, a rest position, which is known by almost any other type of bird. As the lovebirds they wear their nesting material between the rump feathers stuck to the nest. Hanging Parrots feed mainly on flower nectar and pollen.
