The Hankuk University of Foreign Language (Short form: HUFA from the English name Hankuk University of Foreign Studies ) is a foreign language university with two locations in Seoul and Yongin, South Korea.

History

The Hankuk Foreign Studies University was founded on April 20, 1954 after the Korean War. The founder, Kim Heung- bae built initially in 1952 Dongwon Educational Foundation, which was the legal and financial basis for the establishment of the Hankuk University of foreign languages ​​. The Hankuk University of foreign languages ​​at that time was the first South Korean university which specialized in the education of foreign languages. Initially, it was opened with departments of five foreign languages ​​English, French, Chinese, German and Russian. In 1955, the Department of Spanish has been established. Until then, the University used a temporary dwelling in an office building in Jongno 2 -ga. In September 1957 she moved into the newly built modern campus in Seoul Imun -dong. In 1958, the first 133 graduates completed their studies at the Hankuk University of foreign languages ​​and thus opened a new era for the university.

In September 1979, the University established a branch school in Yongin in the capital near Gyeonggi Province, today's Global Campus, and in October 1980 it achieved full university status with the College Occidental languages ​​, Oriental languages ​​, law, economics, education and science. She added language sections added over the years and in 2008 were new 2 language sections in Mongolian, founded in Ukrainian. The Foreign Studies University Hankuk counts for a ranking of the South Korean newspaper JoongAng Ilbo currently among the top ten universities in South Korea.
