Hanna Kvanmo

Hanna Kristine Kvanmo ( born June 14, 1926 in Sandtorg in Harstad, † 23 June 2005 in Arendal ) was a Norwegian socialist politician.

In 1944, she was 18 -year-old nurse of the German Red Cross, and was used on the Eastern Front. When the war ended, she worked in Berlin.

She was from 1973 to 1989 deputy of the Socialist Left Party in the Norwegian parliament from 1977 as their group leader. She was a member of the Norwegian Nobelkommittees between 1991 and 2002, in the years 1993 to 1998 as vice chairman, and she was delegate to the UN General Assembly in 1975 and 1981.

In the 1980s, it was considered one of the most popular Norwegian politicians. She spoke fluent German and English.
