Hanns von Meyenburg

Hans von Meyenburg (actually Walter, born June 6, 1887 in Dresden, † November 6, 1971 ) was a Swiss pathologist and university teachers.

Life

Hans von Meyenburg was the son of the sculptor Viktor von Meyenburg (1834-1893) and his wife Constance born from May born into a noble family of Schaffhausen. His father had lived since 1869 in Dresden. Hans von Meyenburg began the study of medicine at the University of Zurich. In 1907 he became a member of the Corps Tigurinia Zurich. He first worked in surgery at Ferdinand Sauerbruch, but turned in Munich and Berlin, the pathology for which he habilitated in 1918 at Otto buses in Zurich. The following year he became associate professor at the University of Lausanne, in 1921 made ​​him the chair holder. In 1925 he accepted an appointment at the University of Zurich. From 1932 to 1934 he was Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and then from 1934 to 1936 Rector of the University of Zurich. In 1953 he became Professor Emeritus. His daughter Gertrude fresh from Meyenburg was married from 1943 to 1960 with Max Frisch.
