Hanover (region)

The county of Hanover was a Regierungsbezirk of Lower Saxony. From 1946 to 2004 he represented a first of eight regional entities ( six government and two administrative districts), in the Lower Saxony was divided.

History

The history of the district of Hannover goes back to the year 1885, when the 1866 Prussian become former Kingdom of Hanover was divided as now Prussian province of Hannover in administrative districts. Administrative divisions 1905

On February 1, 1978, the Region of Hannover was extended as part of a district reform ( with the reduction to four government districts) to the districts of Hildesheim and Minden wood from the government repealed the district of Hildesheim. Administrative divisions

Before the reorganization of administrative districts (1 February 1978) and before the district reform (March 1, 1974 to August 1, 1977 ) comprised the administrative district of Hanover, the cities of Hamelin and Hanover, as well as the counties county Diepholz (headquarters: Diepholz ), County of Hoya ( Office: Syke ), County of Schaumburg (headquarters: Rinteln ), Hameln -Pyrmont ( Office: Hameln ), Hanover, Neustadt am Ruebenberge, Nienburg / Weser, Schaumburg -Lippe ( Head Office: Hagen city ) and county Springe.

In the district reform, which was carried out in Lower Saxony essentially 1973-1977, the circles on 1 March 1974, on 1 August 1977 were merged into larger administrative units and the urban district of Hameln integrated on 1 January 1973 in the district of Hamelin -Pyrmont.

The formerly independent city of Hanover was incorporated on 1 November 2001 with the county Hanover Hanover region, so that the Region of Hannover since then consisted of the following seven counties:
