Hans Curschmann

Hans Curschmann ( born August 14, 1875 in Berlin, † March 1, 1950 ) was a German neurologist and professor.

Life

Hans Curschmann was the son of the physician Heinrich Curschmann and his wife Margaret born Lohde. From 1891 to 1895 he attended the Royal Grammar School in Leipzig. After graduation, he studied medicine at the Albert -Ludwigs- University of Freiburg, the University of Leipzig and the Ludwig- Maximilians- University of Munich. 1900 med doctorate to the Dr.. he worked from 1900 to 1907 in the pathology of the University of Leipzig and in internal medicine in Heidelberg, Berlin and Tübingen.

In 1906 he habilitated at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen. In 1907 he became chief physician of internal medicine at City Hospital Mainz.

Since 1916 A.O. Professor at the University of Rostock, he was in 1921 Full Professor and Director of the Medical Clinic.

After Curschmann Hans and Hans Gustav Wilhelm Steinert ( German internist, 1875-1911 ), the myotonic dystrophy type 1 ( dystrophic myotonia ) also known as Crohn's Curschmann Steinert.

The Curschmann Clinic in Timmendorfer beach, a specialized hospital for heart attack care is also named after Curschmann.
