Hans Hildebrand

Hans Olof Hildebrand ( born April 5, 1842 in Stockholm, † February 2, 1913 ) was a Swedish prehistorians.

Hans Hildebrand, son of Bror Emil Hildebrand studied 1860-1865 at the University of Uppsala and was then employed at the Archaeological Museum. Following the resignation of his father in 1879 Hildebrand was appointed Reich antiquarian.

He was co-founder in 1873 of the Swedish Geo- Anthropological Society, made repeated trips to scientific purposes, 1874 was General Secretary of the international anthropological and archaeological congress in Stockholm and represented Sweden at the congresses to Bologna, Brussels, Budapest and Lisbon.

Hildebrand was elected to the Swedish Academy in 1891 and was the successor of Fredrik August Dahlgren on chair 6, which was taken over by Hildebrand's death by Sven Hedin. He was also from 1874 a member of the Kungliga och Vitterhets History Antikvitets Academies ( 1879-1907 as its secretary ) and corresponding member of the Berlin Society for Anthropology, Ethnology and Prehistory.
