Hans Joachim Alpers

Hans Joachim Alpers (* July 14, 1943 in Wesermünde, † 16 February, 2011 Niebüll ) was a German publisher and writer. Under his real name, but also under the pseudonyms Jürgen Andrew Thorn Forrester, Daniel autumn, Gregory Kern, Mischa Morrison, PT Vieton and Jorn de Vries he wrote several science fiction and fantasy novels.

Life

Hans Joachim Alpers made ​​after an apprenticeship as a ship fitter an engineering degree in Bremen and studied later at the University of Hamburg, engineering, politics and education science. 1969 to 1972 he was responsible for the selection and editing of appearing in the popular science magazine X magazine science fiction stories, 1970 to 1994, he served as publisher of the Quarber Mercury. From 1978 he was editor and publisher of science fiction anthologies in various publishers (including Earthscan and Moewig ). In addition, he was editor and publisher of " Science Fiction Times " editor at " Comet " (1977/1978 together with Ronald M. Hahn and Werner Fuchs), an editor for book reviews of games magazine " worlds of wonder ", editor and co-editor of the SF magazine " parsecs " (1990, together with Gerd Maximovic ), editor and translator ( from English ) of various anthologies and literary agent.

Under a pseudonym, he wrote numerous short stories, plays, non-fiction and short stories. So he co-authored with Ronald M. Hahn as a common pseudonym Daniel autumn more than a dozen crime novels for young people. In 1984 he was co-founder of the role play The Dark Eye. For his literary and publishing work he received several times the Kurd - Laßwitz price.

He was honored along with Werner Fuchs, Ronald M. Hahn, Jörg Martin Munsonius and Hermann Urbanek for the publication of the Encyclopedia of fantasy literature from the First German Fantasy Club ( EDFC ) with the German Fantasy Award in 2005, which of the city of Passau, all four endowed years and is awarded as part of the " Congress of the imagination ."

Hans Joachim Alpers lived in Hamburg and North Frisia. He died of liver cancer.

Posthumously Alpers 2012 was awarded the Kurd - Laßwitz Special price for long-term excellence in the German SF for his life's work.
