Hans-Joachim Nastold

Hans -Joachim Nastold ( born July 13, 1929 in Stuttgart, † January 26, 2004 in Münster ) was a German mathematician who dealt with algebra and algebraic geometry.

Nastold went to school in Göppingen ( High School 1948) and studied mathematics, physics, philosophy and astronomy to become a teacher first with the goal at the University of Tübingen, the University of Münster and the University of Heidelberg. In 1957 he was in Heidelberg at Friedrich Karl Schmidt PhD ( About meromorphic sections of complex - analytic vector bundle ). and 1961 he completed his habilitation in Heidelberg. 1964/65 he was a visiting professor at the University of Notre Dame and 1965/66 the Department representatives in Tübingen. In 1966 he became a full professor at the University of Münster. At times, he was director of the Mathematical Institute.

He was one of the directors of the series of international conferences Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry in Münster and continued teacher training sessions by Heinrich Behnke in Münster.

His doctoral include Gerd Faltings and Werner Lütkebohmert.
