Hans-Josef Klauck

Hans -Josef Klauck, OFM ( born June 4, 1946 in Hermes wedge ) is a German Catholic New Testament scholar.

Biography

Klauck attended until 1966 a humanistic Gymnasium in Baexem, Netherlands and entered the Franciscan Order after graduating from secondary school. He studied philosophy and theology in Munich, Münster and Bonn and was ordained a Catholic priest in 1972 in Münster.

He conducted research at the Institute for Biblical exegesis at the University of Munich and received his doctorate there in 1977. He then worked at the Institute as an assistant and habilitated in 1980. Klauck From 1981 to 1982 was professor of New Testament at the Faculty of Bonn University Catholic Theological, then to 1997, professor of New Testament at the Faculty of the University of Würzburg Catholic Theology and to 2001 at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Munich. From 1999 to 2003, he was also an honorary professor at the University of Pretoria in South Africa.

Klauck was appointed in 2001 to the University of Chicago Divinity School, where he works as a professor since 2006 at the Naomi - Shenston - Donnelley - Chair of " New Testament and Early Christian Literature ". He was 2003-2004 President of the Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas. In 2008 he received an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Theology of the University of Zurich was awarded.
