Hans Lorbeer

Hans laurel ( born August 15, 1901 in Klein -Wittenberg, † September 7, 1973 in Wittenberg ) was a German writer.

Life

Hans Laurel was born on August 15, 1901 as the illegitimate child of a maid and grew up with foster parents in Kleinwittenberg and Piesteritz. After not completed vocational training as a plumber, he was a laborer in various chemical plants in and near Wittenberg. In 1918 he became a member of the Free Socialist Youth, in 1921 a member of the KPD. In 1928 he was one of the founders of the Association of Proletarian - Revolutionary Writers ( BPRS ). He wrote for the Communist Party newspaper class struggle in Halle and in 1927 for The Red Flag. Due to political agitation, he was dismissed in 1925 from the Central German nitrogen plant in Piesteritz and was unemployed until 1933. In 1930 he turned to the KP opposition and wrote in their press. In 1931 he was ruled out as Brandlerites for violating the party line from the KPD, the exclusion was canceled in 1945. In 1932 he joined the Communist Party -O. From 1933 to 1934 Laurel was imprisoned in a concentration camp Lichtenburg. Because of anti-fascist resistance work ( among other things because the contact to the group means) he was from 1937 to 1939 in the penitentiary and in the bog stock. After that he worked as a laborer under Gestapo supervision.

Between 8 May 1945 and 31 July 1950, Laurel Mayor of Piesteritz and then freelanced as a writer until his death.

Hans laurel was a member of the Academy of Arts of the GDR. He received the Heinrich Mann Prize, the 1961 National Prize of the GDR, 1963 Handel Prize of the City Hall and 1971 the Lion Feuchtwanger Prize and the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold and the Order of Banner of Labor for his literary work in 1959. On August 8, 1976, the Council of the Lutherstadt Wittenberg, Hans laurel decided posthumously honorary citizen of Wittenberg to appoint.
