Hans-Martin Pawlowski

Hans -Martin Pawlowski (born 30 October 1931 in Bochum ) is a German legal scholar.

Life

From 1951 studied Pawlowski law, theology and philosophy in Münster, Freiburg im Breisgau and Munich. 1960 he obtained his PhD at Charles Michaelis in Göttingen on the theme " The right property in the current stuff and Intellectual Property Law ", 1964, the Habilitation in civil law, civil procedure and legal philosophy on the subject Legally Follow vain declarations of intent. Office and party nullity of contracts - On the relationship between private autonomy and objective law. In 1966 he became a full professor of civil law and civil procedure at the former School of Economics and now the University of Mannheim. 1969/1970 Pawlowski was rector of the University of Mannheim.

From 1973 to 1990 he was a member of the Institute of Social Sciences University of Mannheim from 1987 to 1994 Member of the Board of the Research Institute for Social Development ( FGE ) of the University of Mannheim.

Among the research areas listed among other problems, the contract theory and representation and the Europeanisation of private law; Problems of the family structure and care law; Problems of the impartiality of the judge and the delineation of jurisdiction and administration; Problem of the conditions of a pluralistic state, legitimized by the guarantee of freedom of religion and therefore considers all worldviews represented in it on an equal footing; Problems of legal methodology.

Hans -Martin Pawlowski was primarily known for his textbook on civil law as well as for his books on legal methodology. This as well as the philosophy of law was his greatest concern and commitment. Even after his retirement Pawlowski still gives lectures and seminars on legal philosophy and methodology.

Hans -Martin Pawlowski is Protestant and was active intermittently in the Evangelical Working Group of the Union.

Pawlowski is the academic teachers legal scholar Wolfgang Boehm, Uwe John, Johann Braun, Stefan Smid and Volker Lipp.
