Hans Peter Stihl

Hans Peter Stihl ( born April 18, 1932 in Stuttgart ) is a German entrepreneur.

Life

As the eldest son of the founder Andreas Stihl and his wife Mia Hans Peter Stihl 1960, after his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering as Executive Assistant in the company Stihl Waiblingen one. This was in 1959 with 638 employees achieved sales of DM 17.6 million. After the death of his father he became in 1973 the sole shareholder of the now world's largest producer of chainsaws. 2002 Stihl left as chairman of the board of the company, which at that time had 7300 employees and a turnover of over 1.5 billion euros. On May 3, 2010, the Company announced that Stihl resign his chairmanship of Advisory Board and Supervisory Board on 30 June 2012. Successor of the advisory board was his son Nikolas.

As a representative of total metal Stihl had many years of collective bargaining. As DIHT and Chamber of Commerce president, he had from 1989 to 2001 great influence on the West German economic policy. 2006 Stihl Honorary Consul of Singapore. He also sits in the Robert Bosch Industrial Trust KG.

Awards

In November 2009, Hans Peter Stihl was awarded jointly with his sister Eva Mayr- Stihl in the Frankfurt St. Paul's Church of price social market economy of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

Stihl is an honorary citizen of the following German municipalities: the city of Waiblingen (since 1997), municipality of Prüm (since 2001), the town of Tengen. On 4 November 2010, Hans Peter Stihl was nominated for the sense of responsibility towards society and the environment since the founding of the company in the Brazilian city of São Leopoldo in whose honor citizens.

Stihl was in 1982 with the Order of Merit 1st class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, in 1992 awarded the Grand Cross of Merit, and in 2002 with the Great Cross of Merit with Star. Stihl since 1996, a recipient of the Gold Medal of Honour with Star of the Order of the Republic of Austria and Marie Second Class of the Republic of Estonia. Already in 1995 he received the Business Medal and 2001, the Medal of Merit of the State of Baden -Wuerttemberg.
